Last week we had a good discussion about creating a Sandpiper Lite specification, and it looks like it’ll be valuable to start seriously designing it.
More and more I’m thinking that the full lift of implementing Sandpiper proper (crossing network, database, and application domains) is too heavy for the kind of teams and companies we currently have in the automotive market. I’ve heard this feedback over the last four months or so from companies across all the market roles we’ve defined, and so our next task is to find a good medium: something that is as near-deterministic as possible, avoiding things like update chaining and unwritten contextual rules, likely at the expense of some of the flexibility of the content-agnostic approach we chose.
